Ottawa gas prices jump five cents Wednesday to 195.9 cents — Gas Price Tomorrow

Ottawa drivers face another rise at the pump on Wednesday, with gas price tomorrow set to jump five cents to 195.9 cents a litre at most stations. The increase puts prices at their highest level since July 2022.

CityNews’ historical data shows Ottawa fuel prices moved from the mid-160s in mid-April to the high-180s, then to 195.9 cents a litre in early May. That climb has come through multiple daily increases of three to seven cents, with Wednesday adding another five-cent step.

Ottawa fuel prices since mid-April

The pace of the increase has been steady since late April. Global crude prices have been rising amid ongoing geopolitical instability, and supply concerns tied to Iran affected international energy markets in April.

The federal government introduced a temporary pause on the 10-cent-per-litre excise tax on April 20, and that tax break remains in effect until Labour Day. Even with that measure in place, Ottawa prices have continued moving higher through spring.

Wednesday at most stations

At most stations, drivers in the nation’s capital will see 195.9 cents a litre on Wednesday. Analysts warn that continued geopolitical tension and seasonal demand could keep prices elevated through May.

For commuters, delivery drivers, and households filling up in Ottawa, the practical takeaway is simple: topping up before Wednesday avoids the five-cent increase, and the city’s pump price is now back at a level last seen in July 2022.
