Trump Warns Tehran After Us Military Iranian Tanker Strike
The us military iranian tanker strike began Wednesday when the United States fired several rounds at an Iranian-flagged oil tanker and disabled its rudder. The tanker was trying to breach the US blockade of Iranian ports, while more than 800 ships and roughly 20,000 crew members remained stranded west of the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump’s Fresh Ultimatum
Donald Trump posted a fresh ultimatum to Tehran the same day, saying, "Assuming Iran agrees to give what has been agreed to, which is perhaps a big assumption, the already legendary Epic Fury will be at an end." He added, "If they don’t agree, the bombing starts, and it will be, sadly, at a much higher level and intensity than it was before."
Trump also said, "Great Progress has been made toward a Complete and Final Agreement." He said the decision to halt the new naval effort came after requests from mediator Pakistan and other countries, and he ordered an indefinite pause to Project Freedom late on Tuesday.
Strait of Hormuz Pressure
The US blockade of Iranian ports is aimed at forcing Iran to make concessions in negotiations to end the war. Iran has threatened to deploy mines, drones, missiles and fast-attack craft in the Strait of Hormuz, a threat that keeps the commercial lane west of the strait under direct strain.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Washington was seeking Tehran’s surrender through a naval blockade, economic pressure and media manipulation. On Wednesday, Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was prepared for all scenarios.
Project Freedom and Epic Fury
Earlier in February, Trump launched the military operation Epic Fury with Israel against Iran. The tanker strike now sits beside the pause in Project Freedom, and the next move still rests with Tehran’s response to Trump’s demand for a deal.
For the ships and crew members stranded west of the Strait of Hormuz, the immediate reality is unchanged: the blockade stays in place, the naval pause remains indefinite, and the pressure on passage through the strait continues until Washington or Tehran changes course.
