Neco Williams Draws Manchester United Interest as Forest Talk Contract

Manchester United have made discreet enquiries about neco williams, with Nottingham Forest now preparing to discuss a new contract for the 25-year-old Wales defender. The move puts Forest in a race to secure a player who has three years left on his deal.

United’s Left-Back Search

Williams has emerged as a target because United want competition at left-back and may also be looking ahead to a long-term replacement for Luke Shaw. Shaw turns 31 in July, which gives United a clear reason to monitor options before the summer window opens wider.

Williams, who has 55 caps for Wales, has spent almost exclusively on the left this season at Forest and has worn the captain’s armband on occasion. That usage matters because it shows why multiple clubs are checking his situation rather than waiting for a formal move.

Forest Move Early

Forest have already opened talks with Williams and his camp over a new and improved contract. Their plan is to offer better terms to keep him at the club after paying £17m to sign him in 2022.

He arrived after 15 years on the books at Liverpool, and his profile has only risen since then. A summer approach from more than one Premier League club would put Forest’s response under immediate pressure, especially with Newcastle, Aston Villa, United and Everton all said to have made discreet enquiries.

Summer Interest Builds

Sami Mokbel said: “Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Everton are all understood to have made discreet enquiries to understand Williams’ situation heading into the summer.”

That leaves Forest trying to act before interest hardens into bids. Williams is under contract for three more years, but the next move now sits with the club that wants to keep him and the clubs that want to test that resolve.
