Pod Acquires Eo Charging, Expands Fleet Charging Options
Pod has acquired eo charging, giving the UK provider a larger commercial fleet and depot charging offer at a time when fleet electrification is still running into grid limits and long connection delays. Existing EO Charging customers will keep receiving stable and uninterrupted service.
Pod’s 300,000-Customer Base
More than 300,000 electric car customers already use Pod across the UK, and its home and workplace chargers power over five million miles every day. The addition of EO Charging brings specialist depot charging software into that network, widening the tools available to businesses that need to manage charging and optimise energy usage.
17 years is how long Pod says it has operated in the UK, a period that now includes partnerships with Amazon, DHL and Tesco. Melanie Lane, Pod’s chief executive, said: “We're delighted to welcome EO Charging into the Pod family at such an exciting moment for fleet electrification, with their specialist depot charging capabilities strongly complementing Pod's existing strengths in smart charging and flexibility.”
EO Charging Customers Stay Live
One in four new cars sold being electric is the kind of shift driving demand for charging infrastructure, but Pod said businesses are still facing greater issues in moving away from petrol and diesel. Limited grid capacity and lengthy connection times remain a massive hurdle for fleet electrification across the UK and Europe, and that is where depot charging operators are being pulled into the centre of the transition.
“Together, we're expanding Pod's role at the centre of the UK's shift towards smarter, more connected electric mobility,” Lane said. EO Charging customers keep their existing service, while Pod begins support for depot charging operators and folds the acquired software into a wider commercial push.
