Good Will Opens Germantown Site May 26 in Montgomery County

Good will is opening its Germantown store and donation center on Tuesday, May 26 at 10 am, giving Montgomery County shoppers and donors a new location north of Gaithersburg. The site will begin with a soft opening inside the Waters Village Shopping Center redevelopment at Waters Road and Wisteria Drive.

Waters Village Redevelopment

The Germantown site will be Goodwill of Greater Washington’s first retail store and donation center in Montgomery County north of Gaithersburg. Goodwill will serve as the primary tenant in one of the shopping center’s new retail buildings, a detail that ties the opening to the broader redevelopment rather than to a standalone storefront.

Donations are already being accepted at the site ahead of the opening, so the location is not waiting for the May 26 launch to start handling merchandise. That gives local donors an immediate drop-off option even before the store begins operating on a soft-opening schedule.

Goodwill's Montgomery County Push

Earlier this month, Goodwill opened a new Rockville location at the Montrose Shopping Center, extending the organization’s recent push deeper into Montgomery County. The Germantown opening follows that move and places another store and donation center farther north in the county.

The May 26 opening is not the final step for the site. Goodwill said the Germantown launch will function as a soft opening, with an official grand opening celebration expected to be scheduled later. For customers and donors, that means the first day is a working start, not the end of the rollout.

May 26 at 10 am

Tuesday, May 26 at 10 am is the date that matters for anyone planning a visit. The store’s location at Waters Road and Wisteria Drive makes it the nearest new Goodwill option for shoppers and donors in that part of Montgomery County, while the early donation acceptance gives the public a way to use the site before the celebration arrives.
