Oakridge Park Opens May 28 With 650,000 Sq. Ft. — Oakridge Mall Opening
Oakridge mall opening day arrives late in the morning on Thursday, May 28, 2026, when Oakridge Park opens to the public on the site of the former Oakridge Centre. The first phase brings 650,000 sq. ft. of leasable retail and restaurant space, along with about 100 businesses expected to be ready.
Visitors will have 2,000 free parking stalls across the first two underground levels, with complimentary parking limited to the first three hours. Overnight parking will not be permitted, and the parkade will not be available for park-and-ride use for SkyTrain's Oakridge-41st Avenue Station.
Oakridge Park Opening Day
Oakridge Park is opening after a complete redevelopment of the old mall. Sporting Life is expected to be ready on opening day, and it will be the chain's second location in British Columbia. Time Out Market Vancouver will also open Thursday as Canada's second Time Out Market food hall.
The food hall will cover 50,000 sq. ft., include about 1,000 seats and house 20 vendors. A major portion of the 7.5-acre rooftop public park will also be ready for the opening, giving the site more than storefronts and dining spaces from the first day.
Safeway and BC Liquor
Two major tenants will follow after the opening. A 50,000 sq. ft. Safeway grocery store and a 25,000 sq. ft. Signature BC Liquor Store are expected to open a few weeks later. The liquor store will relocate from its current Cambie Street location just north of the mall.
The opening does not include every planned piece of the redevelopment. The 100,000 sq. ft. civic centre, which includes a new community centre and the Oakridge branch of Vancouver Public Library, is not expected to be ready until 2027.
Parking at Oakridge Park
Oakridge Park has three vehicle entrances to the underground parkade and high-tech wayfinding meant to help drivers locate their vehicles. During the grand opening period, the free parking and time limit are the main rules drivers need to watch before arriving.
For shoppers, the immediate change is simple: the centre opens with a broad first phase already in place, but the full mix of planned tenants and civic uses will arrive in stages.
