Zellers Announces Toronto Opening June 18, Windsor Store in July
zellers will open its first Ontario store at 80 Orfus Rd. in Toronto on June 18, 2026, with a second location planned for Tecumseh Mall in Windsor in July 2026. The Toronto site is under construction and will be a 25,000 sq. ft. standalone store. The Windsor opening follows the brand’s Edmonton comeback last fall.
Toronto and Windsor sites
The June 3 announcement sets the chain’s Ontario rollout in motion after its first comeback store opened at Londonderry Mall in Edmonton in October 2025. Zellers said the Toronto store will carry apparel, accessories, home and seasonal products, along with expanded home décor through Casa Domani tabletop collections and new home linen brands including Rachel Roy, Tahari and Chaps.
The company also said it will introduce nostalgic in-store moments and surprises at each new opening. For shoppers in North York, the practical change is simple: the Toronto store has a fixed date, while the Windsor location remains on a July timetable with the exact day still to come.
Benitah on Edmonton response
Joey Benitah, the company’s chief operating officer, said the Ontario rollout follows customer reaction in Alberta. “Following the incredible response we saw in Edmonton, we're excited to bring Zellers back to Ontario in a meaningful way,” he said in the announcement.
He also said, “Customer feedback has been instrumental in shaping our evolution - from what categories resonate most to how we deliver value and discovery in-store. Sales have been strong, engagement has exceeded expectations, and we're just getting started.” Those comments show the company is using the Edmonton store as a test case as it moves into a larger market.
Tecumseh Mall reopening
At Tecumseh Mall, where Zellers once operated, General Manager of Europro's Windsor Properties Katarina Taylor said the return carries local meaning. “We are excited and nostalgic to welcome the Zellers brand back to Tecumseh Mall, marking a great new chapter for both our property and the greater Windsor community,” she said.
Taylor added, “Our shoppers have always remembered the brand fondly, so this reopening is a genuinely meaningful moment for everyone involved.” She also said the store is “among one of the first locations in Ontario to welcome Zellers back,” a position she linked to growth and a more diverse retail mix at the property.
For Ontario customers, the immediate takeaway is clear: Toronto opens first, Windsor follows in July, and Zellers is building the rollout around the response it says it got in Edmonton.
