Trader Joe's Reveals Summer Tote Plan — Trader Joe's Tote Bag Release
Trader Joe's said this week that it plans a trader joe's tote bag release for a new striped mini canvas tote bag this summer. Nakia Rohde, the company spokeswoman, said in an email that the latest batch is expected to feature stripes, following recent mini-bag drops that sold out quickly.
Trader Joe's has not released images, details or a timeline for when the bags will reach stores. The company also said availability will vary by store once the bags are on the market.
Nakia Rohde and the summer tote
Rohde said the company plans to offer the striped mini canvas tote bag this summer. The bags are expected to cost $2.99, the same price as previous mini totes, and measure about 13 inches long, 11 inches tall and 6 inches wide.
Trader Joe's described the canvas bags as best used for small shopping trips, saying, "you’re just picking up something for lunch, or grabbing those items you forgot the first time around."
Trader Joe's mini bags
The new release follows a run of smaller bags that drew strong demand. Trader Joe's sold pastel-colored mini tote bags in mid-March in pink, baby blue, mint green and lavender. Before that, it re-released the original canvas mini tote bag colors in December, sold Halloween-themed canvas mini totes in October and introduced canvas micro totes in November.
The bags have sold out with every recent new release, and demand has extended to international markets. Unofficial mock-up photos of the striped mini totes also began circulating online, prompting an increase in customer calls to some Trader Joe's stores.
Trader Joe's store demand
For shoppers, the practical takeaway is simple: the summer tote is planned, but store-by-store availability will decide when it can actually be bought. Trader Joe's has not given a public timetable, so the next change for customers will come when the bags appear in individual stores.
