Ford Maverick Hybrid Leads GreenCars Best Hybrids Under $35,000 — Automobile
GreenCars named the Ford Maverick Hybrid among five best hybrids under $35,000 MSRP, putting an automobile option with a starting price of $29,990 in front of buyers watching fuel costs. AAA said regular gas averaged more than $4 per gallon in April 2026, and GreenCars tied its list to that pressure.
Ford Maverick Hybrid Pricing
The Maverick Hybrid is the only hybrid pickup on the list. In front-wheel-drive form, it returns an EPA-estimated 42/35/38 mpg city/highway/combined and can save over $700 in fuel costs compared with the nonhybrid version.
Ford also made the hybrid powertrain available with AWD in 2025. That version starts at $32,210 MSRP, while the Maverick Hybrid with the 4K Tow package is priced at $33,750 equipped and can tow up to 4,000 pounds.
Toyota Camry Hybrid Efficiency
The Toyota Camry Hybrid leads the group with an EPA-estimated 52 city, 49 highway and 51 combined mpg. At $4 per gallon, GreenCars said moving from a 25-mpg vehicle to a 51-mpg Toyota Camry can save nearly $1,000 per year.
The Camry Hybrid also earned IIHS Top Safety Pick+ recognition in the article. GreenCars placed it inside a price band that stays below the $35,000 ceiling while still pushing the list's best fuel-economy number.
Honda Civic Hybrid Options
The Honda Civic Hybrid comes as a sedan or hatchback. The sedan starts at $30,590 MSRP and is rated at 50/47/49 mpg city/highway/combined, while the hatchback starts at $31,790 MSRP and is rated at 50/45/48 mpg.
GreenCars said the hatchback offers 24.5 cubic feet of cargo space. It also said the Civic Hybrid can save over $450 a year compared with the nonhybrid.
Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Standard AWD
The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid starts at $34,050 MSRP and includes standard AWD. GreenCars also said it earned IIHS Top Safety Pick+ recognition, keeping it within the list's under-$35,000 limit even with all-wheel drive.
For buyers comparing these five models, the practical cutoff is simple: each one stays below $35,000 MSRP, but the tradeoffs differ between truck utility, sedan fuel economy, hatchback cargo room and crossover AWD. GreenCars' list gives shoppers a narrower field to compare before they visit a dealer.
