Oliver Tree Among Six Dead in Rio De Janeiro Helicopter Crash

Two helicopters collided in midair and crashed in rio de janeiro’s Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood on Sunday, June 14, killing six people. Oliver Tree, 32, was among the dead, along with Gaspar Prim, known as the Argentine YouTuber Gaspi, and pilot Charles Marsillac.

The crash involved aircraft registered PP-MAC and PR-DJJ. Five of the six fatal victims were in one helicopter, while Marsillac was alone in the other, according to the facts released on the case.

Preliminary information from the Fire Department says the aircraft collided in midair before falling into a lot for electric vehicles on Avenida das Américas. At least 20 vehicles burned after the impact, turning the scene into both an air accident and a ground fire emergency in one of Rio de Janeiro’s busiest corridors.

The case is being handled by the 42nd DP in Recreio dos Bandeirantes. The Brazilian Air Force said CENIPA and investigators from SERIPA III were activated for the initial response, bringing aviation specialists into the inquiry while police secured the scene.

Oliver Tree’s Rio schedule

Tree had performed a show in São Paulo on June 6 and was in Brazil during a world tour. He had also posted an Instagram story on Saturday, June 13, from a studio with other music names, a final public trace before the crash the next morning.

A person close to Marsillac described him as “muito experiente e sério.” That account adds a human detail to a case already defined by the loss of six lives, including a pilot who was flying alone in one of the helicopters.

Tree was scheduled to make his first show in the European leg in Lisbon on July 1, but the crash ended that plan before it could happen. For fans, crew members, and others tied to the tour, the immediate reality is the loss of a performer in transit and a police-led aviation investigation now centered on what happened over Recreio dos Bandeirantes.
