Guzman Y Gomez launches Apple CarPlay ordering in Australia

guzman y gomez has become the first quick service restaurant in Australia to launch on Apple CarPlay. The feature lets customers order and pay without touching their phones, turning the dashboard into a place to find a nearby store, load a favourite order, and send payment in a few taps.

Bryce Maybury on CarPlay

Chief Technology Officer Bryce Maybury said, “Our guests are loyal. They know their order, they trust the food, and they just want it fast. CarPlay means they can get their GYG fix without even picking up their phone. Their favourites, their GOMEX points, their saved payments – it’s all there.”

That is the practical shift for regular customers. The order flow starts with finding the nearest GYG restaurant on the CarPlay screen. It ends with payment through a saved card already stored in the app.

GOMEX Wallet in Apple Wallet

GYG is also rolling out the GOMEX Wallet pass alongside the CarPlay launch. The pass puts the GOMEX loyalty card directly into Apple Wallet, where points balance, GYG Dollars, and personalised offers update in real time.

The loyalty card also works in other digital wallets. Every order earns GOMEX points, and pickups can happen at the drive thru or the counter.

What GYG leaves out

Maybury said, “We’re on a mission to reinvent fast food and change the way the masses eat, and that means making it as easy as possible to get great food, how and where you want it. That’s what we build technology for.” The launch puts that claim in front of customers inside the car, but it does not say anything about pricing changes, extra fees, or whether the feature will expand beyond Australia.
