Link Unlocks 6 Great Fairy Rewards in Zelda Ocarina
In zelda ocarina, Link can reach one Great Fairy Fountain after another and leave each one with a different upgrade. VGC lists the fountains in the order players can access them, turning a side path into a practical route for movement, magic, and survival through later areas.
Those rewards are not all equal. Some are optional, but every fountain gives Link new powers or items, and a few change what he can do in the rest of the game.
Death Mountain and Hyrule Castle
After clearing Dodongo’s Cavern, Darunia points Link toward the Great Fairy at the summit of Death Mountain, where bombs are needed to open the path and the fairy gives him the Magic Meter and Spin Attack. The sequence is straightforward once the route is open: stand on the Hylian Crest and play Zelda’s Lullaby on the ocarina to summon her.
After completing Dodongo’s Cavern, Link can also pass the gate to Hyrule Castle, hug the right wall, and find a passage ending with a rock he can bomb. That fountain gives Din’s Fire, one of the key tools on the list and the first reward tied to the castle area rather than the mountain trail.
Zora’s Fountain and Death Mountain Crater
After Link convinces King Zora to move, he can reach Zora’s Fountain, swim behind Lord Jabu Jabu, and use a bomb between two rocks in the cliff wall on the right side. The explosion reveals a large cave with the Great Fairy Fountain inside, and the reward is Farore’s Wind.
After completing the Fire Temple, Link returns with the Goron Tunic and the Megaton Hammer to access the fountain near Death Mountain Crater. From the Goron City entrance to the crater, he moves right across the bridge to a cave blocked by two rocks, and the Great Fairy there doubles his Magic Meter.
Spirit Temple and Ganon’s Castle
From the Spirit Temple, turning left toward the desert reveals two palm trees against the cliff wall, and the Lens of Truth exposes a secret path between them. That fountain gives Nayru’s Love, which creates a defensive barrier around Link for a short time.
Link later gets the Silver Gauntlets from the Spirit Temple and the Golden Gauntlets inside Ganon’s Castle. With the Golden Gauntlets, he can return as Young Link to the corner where he found Din’s Fire, lift the giant pillar there, and reach another Great Fairy Fountain for a massive HP upgrade. It is the clearest payoff in the guide: optional detours at the start, then a late-game health boost that only opens after the strongest gauntlets are in hand.
