NVIDIA, SK Group Construct AI Factory to Transform Korea’s Manufacturing and Digital Landscape

SK Group and NVIDIA are joining forces to create a groundbreaking AI factory in South Korea, aiming to redefine the nation’s manufacturing and digital technology landscape. This partnership will significantly enhance chip design, robotics, and AI agent development across industries.

NVIDIA AI Factory Overview

The new AI factory will incorporate over 50,000 NVIDIA GPUs. Its first phase is expected to be completed by late 2027. Upon completion, this facility will rank among Korea’s largest AI factories, designed to serve both SK Group subsidiaries, such as SK hynix and SK Telecom, and external organizations through GPU-as-a-service offerings.

Innovative Technologies and Applications

  • SK hynix will utilize NVIDIA CUDA-X technologies and the PhysicsNeMo framework to enhance semiconductor fabrication.
  • The factory will support the development of digital twin technologies, facilitating real-time simulations for improved operational efficiency.
  • AI-powered agents developed using NVIDIA NIM microservices will assist over 40,000 SK Group employees in boosting productivity.

Collaboration Goals

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, highlighted this project as a crucial step toward creating advanced GPU computing platforms that drive global AI innovation. The AI factory aims to facilitate a transformation across Korea’s industries, enabling them to overcome traditional barriers in manufacturing.

Strategic Impact of the AI Factory

Chairman Chey Tae-Won of SK Group noted that this initiative aims to leverage AI as a transformative force for various sectors within Korea. With a solid foundation of the AI factory, the partnership seeks to advance memory technology, robotics, and intelligent AI functionalities.

Advanced Infrastructure and Resources

SK Telecom is set to establish an industrial cloud powered by NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs. This cloud will enable advancements in physical AI and robotics, with an initial deployment of over 2,000 GPUs to support various applications.

Boosting Chip Manufacturing with AI

  • SK hynix is focused on scaling operations with accelerated cloud infrastructure.
  • Utilizing NVIDIA technologies has allowed faster delivery of semiconductor products through enhanced design simulations.
  • Autonomous digital twins will convert real-time data into actionable insights for manufacturing processes.

Additionally, the collaboration will contribute to the Korea government’s Sovereign AI Foundation Models project. SK Telecom will play a crucial role in developing AI models meant to facilitate enterprise-level AI agent and application development.

By jointly advancing these initiatives, SK Group and NVIDIA are poised to solidify Korea’s position at the forefront of AI-enhanced manufacturing and innovation.
