Toyota has introduced its first fully electric pickup truck, broadening its commitment to electrification. This announcement marks a significant milestone for the brand, which is known for its popular Hilux model.
Toyota’s First Electric Pickup Truck Launch Details
The new electric Hilux is set to begin its rollout next month, with the initial launch occurring in Europe. Unfortunately, consumers in the United States will not have access to this vehicle, which has left potential buyers disappointed.

- Towing Capacity: 3,500 lbs (1,600 kg)
- Payload Capacity: 1,500 lbs (715 kg)
- Driving Range: Approximately 150 miles (240 km) according to WLTP standards
This ninth-generation Hilux features a combination of cutting-edge design and technology. The exterior maintains a strong resemblance to traditional Hilux styling while incorporating modern elements such as slim LED headlights and a light bar showcasing the Toyota logo. Additionally, a rear deck step has been added for enhanced functionality.
Interior Features and Technology
The interior design draws inspiration from the latest Toyota Land Cruiser. It boasts a dual 12.3-inch driver display, central multimedia screens, and a user-friendly shift-by-wire drive selector that centralizes off-road controls. Convenience features include a wireless phone charger and multiple USB ports.
Advanced Safety and Off-Road Capabilities
Toyota has outfitted the electric Hilux with electric power steering, which enhances maneuverability and minimizes feedback on rough terrains. It also features the T-Mate advanced safety package, which integrates Toyota Safety Sense with new functions like:

While the electric Hilux will debut in Europe in December 2025, regions like Australia, Southeast Asia, and others may soon follow. However, due to new auto tariffs, the Hilux remains unavailable in the U.S.
