Cursor, a prominent AI coding tool developer, has secured $2.3 billion in funding, marking a significant leap in its valuation. With this latest investment, the company is now valued at $29.3 billion, reflecting a more than twofold increase from its previous valuation of $9.9 billion just five months ago.
Funding Details and Key Investors
The recent funding round, which was reported by the Wall Street Journal, was co-led by Accel and Coatue Management. Accel is an existing investor, while Coatue has now joined Cursor’s investor roster. Additional participation came from strategic investors, including:
- Nvidia, an enterprise customer
- Google, a supplier of AI models
- Thrive Capital, led by Joshua Kushner, who also participated in Cursor’s prior funding rounds

Michael Truell, co-founder and CEO of Cursor, indicated that the new capital will be utilized to advance Composer. This AI model was launched in October and aims to gradually reduce the company’s reliance on external AI models from providers like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
