Kevin Spacey Blames Telegraph for Misleading “Homeless” Claim

Kevin Spacey has addressed recent claims regarding his housing status, specifically rejecting reports that suggested he is homeless. The actor criticized The Telegraph for publishing what he deemed a “knowingly misleading headline” relating to his situation.

Kevin Spacey Clarifies Living Situation

In a video posted on X, Spacey stated that it would be disingenuous to let people believe he is homeless in the traditional sense. He explained that he has been staying in hotels and Airbnbs while pursuing acting opportunities.

Spacey expressed gratitude to those who reached out to him, offering places to stay. He noted, “I am truly touched by your generosity.” He emphasized that, unlike many who are genuinely homeless, his circumstances do not reflect a dire financial situation.

Response to The Telegraph’s Article

In his statement, Spacey referred to his conversation with journalist Mick Brown, asserting that the original article should not have led readers to conclude he was homeless. He criticized The Telegraph for undermining their journalist’s work with a misleading headline aimed at generating clicks.

“It is a shame that The Telegraph chose to sell out their own journalist,” Spacey stated. He pointed out that he has had a busy year filled with work and expressed concern for those who are truly struggling with homelessness.

Career Outlook and Legal Battles

Spacey’s comments follow a difficult period in his career. He faced significant challenges after allegations of sexual misconduct emerged in 2017. Since then, he has been involved in various legal battles, including being acquitted of sexual assault charges in the U.K. in 2023 and being found not liable in a court case in 2022.

Despite the setbacks, Spacey remains optimistic about a potential comeback. “If Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino call my manager tomorrow, it will be over,” he said, expressing hope about future opportunities in the industry. “I believe it’s going to happen,” he added confidently.
