By 3:30 p.m., the City of Worcester provided updates on the situation. The southbound lane of Norton Drive reopened while the northbound lane remained closed. It was anticipated that at least one lane would open by Saturday evening.
In the midst of the water service disruptions, over 500 customers in Worcester also faced power outages. National Grid reported that electricity was largely restored by 1:30 p.m. However, the city indicated that further repairs on the water main would be necessary on Monday.
