Loyal Legion Bar Expands to Vancouver, Features Washington State Beers

Loyal Legion, a Portland-based beer bar, is set to expand to Vancouver, Washington. This new location aims to bring the rich tradition of Oregon craft brewing to a new audience.

Loyal Legion Expands to Downtown Vancouver

The Vancouver site is the fourth branch of Loyal Legion, following successful establishments in Portland, Beaverton, and the Portland International Airport. The bar plans to open in April 2024, taking over the former taproom of Heathen Brewing.

Unique Offerings for Beer Enthusiasts

This new location will feature over 70 taps dedicated to Washington state breweries. This is a significant addition, as Loyal Legion previously did not serve beers from Washington. According to Kurt Huffman from Loyal Legion, there has been considerable interest from those breweries, and the Vancouver expansion is a pivotal step.

  • Location: 1109 Washington St., Vancouver, WA
  • Size: 5,000 square feet with a spacious patio
  • Capacity: Approximately 300 patrons (150 indoors, 150 outdoors)

A Collaborative Project

Heathen Brewing’s owner, Sunny Parsons, is a partner in this venture. The new space will undergo renovations to highlight its impressive 22-foot ceilings. Additionally, the outdoor area will be enhanced with trees and landscaping, creating an inviting environment.

Improved Dining Experience

With a larger kitchen, Loyal Legion aims to expedite food service, enhancing the overall experience for visitors. The menu will feature traditional options such as:

  • Burgers
  • Pretzels
  • Olympia Provisions sausages
  • Hand-dipped corn dogs
  • Newly added pizza

Exciting Features and Future Plans

A speakeasy-style cocktail bar is planned for the basement, alongside regular weekend pop-up events featuring local Washington breweries. The initial pop-ups will also serve smash burgers from Dos Hermanos, a well-known Portland bakery.

The Vancouver community has shown strong support for this new establishment. The location benefits from ample parking and a strategic position near downtown and the waterfront, which is expected to increase foot traffic.

The Main Street Promise campaign is also enhancing the area’s appeal by expanding sidewalks and improving lighting, expected to be completed by late 2026.

With this expansion, Loyal Legion is poised to create a hub for craft beer lovers in Vancouver, celebrating Washington state beers while continuing its mission of honoring the craft brewing tradition.
