Young Family Finds Space Outside Dallas
Adam and Amanda Powell, an American couple, recently relocated from Liechtenstein to the Dallas area. They previously lived in a modern, four-bedroom apartment in Schaan, where they spent three years immersed in a new culture. However, they faced a career change when their work visas were not renewed, requiring their move to Hilti’s North American headquarters.
From Europe to Texas
The Powells embraced the transition back to Texas, a place they both consider home. Mrs. Powell grew up in Austin, while Mr. Powell hails from the Dallas area. Their journey together began at Abilene Christian University, leading to their marriage in 2005. They have two daughters, Charlotte and Olivia, who were born after they returned to Dallas in 2017.
Finding Space Outside Dallas
As they prepared to leave Liechtenstein, the Powells began their search for a new home. Mrs. Powell expressed a desire for a home with more space, emphasizing her need for privacy. “I don’t want to touch my neighbors,” she stated. The couple also wanted enough room to accommodate visiting family, especially since both sets of grandparents reside in Texas.
- A spacious kitchen for family gatherings
- A high-ranking public school district with a pre-K program
- Room for extended family visits
To assist in their search, the Powells enlisted Lauren Moore, a knowledgeable broker from Compass. Moore recommended Collin County, located approximately 30 miles north of downtown Dallas, known for its excellent public schools. With a budget of up to $1.3 million, they aimed to find a home that required minimal renovation.
Exploring Fairview and Lucas
The couple focused their search on the towns of Fairview and Lucas. They wanted to secure a property before returning to the United States in the spring. To facilitate the process while they were overseas, Moore utilized FaceTime, allowing them to view homes in real-time from abroad.
The Powells’ journey highlights the challenges and rewards of relocating a family, along with the importance of finding a space that meets their needs. As they transition to life outside Dallas, they look forward to creating new memories in their future home.
