Kentucky Train Derailment Triggers Hazmat Emergency and Shelter-in-Place Order
A train derailment in Todd County, Kentucky, has led to a serious Hazmat emergency. The incident occurred alongside US-41, near the intersection with US-475/Tress Shop Road, sending approximately 20 train cars off the tracks.
Chemical Leak and Safety Measures
Several derailed cars were transporting molten sulfur, a highly flammable and toxic substance. Consequently, the Todd County Sheriff’s Office has advised residents within a half-mile radius to shelter in place and turn off their HVAC systems to avoid exposure.
