Loganair Awaits Guernsey’s Approval for New Route License
Loganair is currently awaiting approval from Guernsey’s Transport Licensing Authority (TLA) for new route licenses. This request involves services connecting Guernsey with Jersey and Southampton.
Guernsey’s Transport Licensing Authority Update
Earlier this month, the TLA announced it had received three applications due to recent changes in the island’s air transport links. The authority is responsible for issuing air transport licenses for essential routes.
Essential Routes to and from Guernsey
The approved routes include:
- Gatwick
- Alderney
- Southampton
Furthermore, a new essential route to Jersey will commence on January 15. Among the three applications, Aurigny has received approval to operate a scheduled passenger and cargo service between Guernsey and Jersey.
Loganair’s Applications Under Review
The remaining two applications submitted by Loganair are under consideration. These applications seek permission for services between Guernsey and Jersey, as well as Guernsey and Southampton. Both routes were previously managed by Blue Islands, which entered liquidation in November.
A TLA spokesperson confirmed that the review of these applications is ongoing. Meanwhile, Loganair has emphasized its strong case for obtaining the necessary licenses and is hopeful for a positive outcome.
Loganair’s Commitment to Connectivity
As a Scottish airline, Loganair is establishing a permanent base in Jersey. The carrier aims to enhance connectivity between the islands and the UK, making the Jersey hub a critical focus for their operations.
