Musk Announces Major Update to Tesla Cybertruck Trim in 10 Days
Tesla has revealed an updated trim for its all-electric Cybertruck, the Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive (AWD). This model comes at a starting price of $59,990 and is designed to offer exceptional value for its features.
Key Features of the Cybertruck AWD
The Cybertruck AWD is equipped with impressive specifications:
- Estimated range of 325 miles
- Powered tonneau cover with three bed outlets (two 120V and one 240V)
- Powershare capability
- Coil springs with adaptive damping for improved suspension
- Steer-by-wire and four-wheel steering
- Composite bed dimensions of 6′ x 4′
- Towing capacity of 7,500 pounds
- Powered frunk
- Heated first-row seats
Improvements Over Previous Trim
This new AWD variant significantly enhances the features that were lacking in the discontinued Cybertruck Rear-Wheel Drive model. The previous model was limited in functionality and lacked many premium features, which made it less appealing to consumers.
Unlike its predecessor, the Cybertruck AWD provides a comprehensive package for just $10,000 more than the previous trims. While the earlier model did offer a discount, it did not justify the loss of key features and performance advantages.
Market Positioning and Sales Outlook
Despite being popular among enthusiasts, the Cybertruck has struggled in terms of sales. Tesla aims to address this issue with the introduction of the more competitively priced Cybertruck AWD, which aligns closely with original pricing from 2019.
In November 2019, Tesla announced three trim levels: a Single Motor for $39,990, a Dual Motor for $49,990, and a Tri-Motor for $69,990. The new AWD model keeps the pricing competitive, accounting for inflation since its initial launch.
Delivery Timeline
Deliveries for the Cybertruck AWD are anticipated to commence in June 2026, providing consumers with an accessible option for those interested in Tesla’s innovative electric truck lineup.
