Chrysler CEO Feuell Departs; Dodge Chief Assumes Leadership Role

Chrysler is undergoing a significant leadership transition as CEO Christine Feuell departs, paving the way for Matt McAlear, Dodge’s CEO, to assume dual roles. Effective immediately, McAlear will now oversee both Chrysler and Alfa Romeo operations in North America.

Leadership Changes at Chrysler and Dodge

Christine Feuell led Chrysler since 2021 and briefly managed the Ram brand in 2024. She has left the company for personal reasons, as confirmed in a statement from Stellantis NV.

  • Feuell added oversight of Alfa Romeo in late 2024.
  • Matt McAlear has served as Dodge CEO since 2024.
  • McAlear was responsible for launching the new Charger muscle car, which won the North American Car of the Year award.

Impact on Chrysler Brands

Under McAlear’s leadership, Chrysler will focus on revitalizing its brand and operations. Chrysler celebrated its 100th anniversary last year. In 2025, it recorded a slight year-over-year sales increase attributed to strong performances of the Pacifica and Voyager models. Currently, the brand’s portfolio includes only these two minivan models.

A refreshed version of the Pacifica is expected to launch in 2027. However, Alfa Romeo has faced challenges, with sales dropping by 36% last year. This decline occurred due to limited updates and investments in its North American offerings.

Stellantis Leadership and Strategic Goals

These leadership shifts are part of Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa’s strategy to address declining sales and profitability across North American brands. Since taking over in mid-2022, Filosa has implemented changes in financial leadership and adjusted regional teams and sales operations.

As McAlear steps into his new role, his experience with Dodge, Chrysler, and Maserati positions him well to tackle the challenges ahead.
