Volkswagen Unveils ID.3 Neo and Key Updates for ID.4 EVs
Volkswagen has introduced the ID.3 Neo, an updated version of its successful electric hatchback, enhancing its appeal with significant software improvements and a fresh design.
Introducing the New Volkswagen ID.3 Neo
The ID.3 Neo emerges as the latest iteration of Volkswagen’s ID family, having originally debuted in 2020. This updated model promises a range of enhancements, including the innovative Innovision Infotainment system.
Key Updates for the ID.3 and ID.4 EVs
Alongside the ID.3 Neo, the ID.4 and other models are now available with the revamped infotainment system. Volkswagen’s tech lead, Kai Grünitz, emphasized the benefits of the new software, stating, “The new software generation brings more performance and an even better customer experience to the ID. models.”
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) Capability
All freshly updated ID vehicles are equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality. This feature allows users to power various appliances ranging from electric grills to e-bikes, thanks to a 230 V socket that can deliver up to 3.6 kW from the vehicle’s battery.
Enhanced Powertrain for ID.4 and ID.5
- The entry-level ID.4 and ID.5 models feature the new APP 350 drive system.
- This system delivers 187 hp (140 kW) and is paired with an efficient 58 kWh LFP battery.
- These enhancements yield up to 25 miles (40 km) more WLTP driving range compared to the previous APP 310 version.
Additional Features of New ID Vehicles
Among other advancements, Volkswagen’s new electric vehicles include a digital key and access to an app store, allowing smartphone use as a vehicle key. These updates apply to the ID.3, ID.4, and ID.7 models.
Future of Volkswagen’s Electric Lineup
Looking ahead, Volkswagen is gearing up to launch a series of entry-level electric vehicles, starting with the ID. Polo set to debut this spring. Grünitz confirmed that models like the ID. Polo, ID. Polo GTI, and ID. Cross will incorporate these latest technologies.
The ID.3 Neo marks a notable transition in Volkswagen’s naming strategy, moving from numerical designations to more distinctive names. The world premiere of the ID.3 Neo is scheduled for mid-April, promising further excitement for electric vehicle enthusiasts.
