TNT Sports Rules Is Europa League Final Free To Watch No for 3 Finals
TNT Sports has decided the answer to is europa league final free to watch is no, and that applies to the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League finals. Fans who want to watch any of the three matches will need a subscription, ending free access for this season’s finals.
TNT Sports and HBO Max
The move means viewers who previously watched the finals without paying must now use TNT Sports access or sign up for HBO Max for one month. Discovery+ is no longer the route, because it has been replaced by Warner Bros Discovery’s new streaming service, which has no free option.
This is the first time since the Champions League was launched in 1992 that supporters have had to pay to watch its final. TNT Sports has broadcast the competition since 2015, and the change comes with the broadcaster set to lose the rights in 2027.
Champions League final access
Uefa wanted the finals to remain free-to-air, but the rights holder made the final call. Sport understands Uefa is disappointed by the decision. The Champions League final had been free on ITV for the first 23 years after the competition launched, then BT Sport won the rights from 2015-16 and continued to make the final available without a subscription through to 2023, including a simulcast on its YouTube channel.
That arrangement changed after BT Sport was bought by Warner Bros Discovery and rebranded as TNT Sports. Fans then needed a discovery+ account to keep watching without cost, but that option has now gone with the new platform shift.
Finals on platforms
There are still free options for follow-up coverage. Highlights of the Champions League final will be on the Sport website and across social media channels 15 minutes after the trophy lift, then on iPlayer and television later in the evening. Live commentary of all three finals will be on Radio 5 Live.
The match schedule is already set: Aston Villa meet Freiburg in the Europa League on Wednesday at 20:00 BST, Crystal Palace face Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League on 27 May at 20:00 BST, and Arsenal take on Paris St-Germain in the Champions League on 30 May at 17:00 BST. For fans without a TNT Sports subscription, HBO Max for one month is the clearest way to watch the finals live.
