Facebook Privacy Settlement Bonus Payment Starts June 9, 2026

A second bonus payment from the $725 million Facebook privacy settlement begins June 9, 2026, after a court approved the distribution on May 6. Eligible claimants who already filed by Aug. 25, 2023, and received the first check do not need to take another step.

Facebook settlement checks restart

The new round is expected to run for about four weeks and to be much smaller than the first, with payments projected at roughly $5 to $7 per person. The first checks issued last year averaged about $30, giving eligible users a clear marker for how much less this supplemental payout will deliver.

That second distribution follows the first round that began in September 2025, when payments went out to eligible Facebook users. Of the estimated 250 million Facebook users eligible for the settlement, some 19 million people received payments the first time around.

Who qualifies for June 9

Eligibility for the cash settlement covered all Facebook users except affiliated companies and Facebook employees. The underlying lawsuit said private content was shared with thousands of third parties between May 24, 2007, and Dec. 22, 2022, and the dispute was settled in 2023 after appeals were resolved in May 2025.

If a person filed a claim form and already got the first check, the supplemental payment should follow without any action. People in the distribution will receive an email notification a few days in advance, and official settlement administrators will not ask to confirm identity with a driver's license or other personal documents.

What claimants should watch

The practical issue now is not whether the settlement is moving, but how small the second payout will be compared with the first. About $169 million went to legal and administrative fees, which helps explain why the remaining pool is being spread thinly across the class.

Claimants who expect payment should watch for the notice email and avoid any message that asks for a name, address, payment method, or personal documents. The official settlement website is FacebookUserPrivacySettlement.com, and administrators will not provide an estimate of a settlement payment.
