Aldi Reveals 16 New Stores Across UK, Including New Aldi Stores in Wales
Aldi revealed 16 new aldi stores across the UK on Tuesday, including two in Wales, as it pushed ahead with a wider expansion plan. The locations add to a network already above 1,080 UK stores and point to another round of openings in the coming months.
Watford and Hoxton lead the list
The new sites include Watford and Hoxton in London, plus Hattersley in Greater Manchester and Balsall Common in the West Midlands. Those are among the clearest signs of where Aldi is concentrating its next wave of growth, with the chain now turning a fresh set of locations into active store plans rather than broad expansion targets.
More than 1,080 UK stores give Aldi a large base, but the company’s long-term aim is 1,500 sites across the country. That gap leaves room for continued openings even after the latest 16-store announcement, which follows Aldi’s January plan to open around 40 new stores in 2026.
£370 million backs the rollout
£370 million is being invested in new stores this year, and Aldi said that money is supporting the latest tranche of openings. Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: "At Aldi, we’re committed to making high-quality, affordable food accessible to everyone, which is why we continue to invest in expanding our store network across the UK."
"Our £370 million investment in new stores this year will help us bring Aldi’s unbeatable value to even more communities, supporting local economies through our industry-leading pay for colleagues," he said. The company opened its latest store in Salford Quays last month, showing the rollout is already moving from planning into delivery.
Wales gets two new sites
Two of the 16 new Aldi locations are in Wales, giving the supermarket another foothold in a market where local shoppers will be watching for opening dates and site details in the coming months. For customers near the announced towns and districts, the practical change is straightforward: a new budget grocer is moving closer, and Aldi has now put names to the places it intends to serve next.
