Jeep Recalls 375,000 Wrangler and Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEVs

Stellantis is initiating a significant recall involving over 375,000 Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). This move comes after an internal investigation uncovered potential fire risks associated with these vehicles.

Details of the Recall

The recall affects the following models:

  • 2020-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe
  • 2022-2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe

In the United States, approximately 320,065 affected Jeep PHEVs are being recalled. Additional recalls include:

  • 20,753 units in Canada
  • 2,653 units in Mexico
  • 32,238 units in other international markets

Fire Risk and Safety Measures

Owners of the recalled vehicles are advised to avoid charging their cars and to park them away from buildings and other vehicles. Stellantis has stated that the fire risk decreases when the battery is drained. The batteries involved were manufactured by Samsung SDI.

History of the Problem

This issue is not new. It follows a previous recall in 2024, where 154,000 Jeep plug-in hybrids were recalled due to similar defects. During that recall, nine reported fires were linked to the affected Wrangler and Grand Cherokee models.

Next Steps for Owners

Stellantis has indicated that a solution for the issue will be available soon. Affected owners will receive notifications to schedule service appointments once the remedy is prepared. In the interim, they can reach customer care at 1-800-853-1403 for inquiries or visit recalls.mopar.com for updated information.

Recent Recalls

This recall follows another incident where nearly 25,000 Jeep Wrangler PHEVs were recalled due to a software glitch that caused some vehicles to malfunction. Drivers faced challenges, including having their vehicles towed to dealerships.

Stellantis continues to address these safety concerns to ensure the well-being of its customers.
