Google Unveils Gemini 3: New Coding App and Benchmark Records
Google has announced the launch of Gemini 3, its latest and most advanced foundation model. This release, which follows just seven months after the introduction of Gemini 2.5, is now available through the Gemini app and AI search interface.
Key Features of Gemini 3
Gemini 3 is now recognized as the most capable large language model (LLM) from Google, positioning itself as a strong competitor in the market. This release comes shortly after notable models from other companies, including OpenAI’s GPT 5.1 and Anthropic’s Sonnet 4.5, highlighting the rapid advancement in artificial intelligence technology.
Research-Intensive Version
A specialized version known as Gemini 3 Deepthink will also be available soon for Google AI Ultra subscribers. This version will go through further safety testing before it is released.
Impressive Benchmark Scores
Gemini 3 has demonstrated significant improvements in reasoning abilities. According to Tulsee Doshi, Google’s head of product for the Gemini model, the new model displays unparalleled depth and nuance. It has achieved:
- A score of 37.4 on Humanity’s Last Exam benchmark, setting a new record.
- Surpassing the previous high score of 31.64 held by GPT-5 Pro.
- Top performance on LMArena, which assesses user satisfaction.
Growing User Base
The Gemini app is experiencing notable growth, boasting over 650 million monthly active users. Additionally, approximately 13 million software developers have integrated the model into their workflows.
Google Antigravity: A New Coding Interface
In conjunction with Gemini 3, Google has introduced a coding interface named Google Antigravity. This innovative tool allows for multi-pane agentic coding, resembling other agentic IDEs like Warp and Cursor 2.0. Antigravity integrates a ChatGPT-style prompt window, a command-line interface, and a browser window, enabling users to see the real-time effects of their coding work.
As emphasized by DeepMind CTO Koray Kavukcuoglu, this agentic environment collaborates seamlessly across multiple interfaces, enhancing the overall application development process.
