JetBlue Announces 2026 Launch of Barcelona, Milan Flights
JetBlue Airways is set to expand its European routes significantly in 2026. The low-cost airline will launch flights to two prominent cities: Barcelona, Spain, and Milan, Italy. Both routes will operate from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).
New Routes from Boston
Flights to Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) will commence on April 16, 2026. Following shortly, nonstop flights to Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) will begin on May 11, 2026. This expansion marks a milestone for JetBlue as it enters its sixth consecutive summer of introducing new transatlantic services.
Expansion Details
- Boston to Barcelona (BCN): Starts on April 16, 2026.
- Boston to Milan (MXP): Commences on May 11, 2026.
The addition of these routes will increase JetBlue’s European offerings to eight cities across nine airports. This growth is notable since transatlantic operations for the airline began only in 2021.
Seasonal Service and Previous Destinations
JetBlue’s new Barcelona and Milan routes will feature seasonal service, operating daily during spring, summer, and early fall. The airline is also resuming its previous European destinations, including Dublin, Edinburgh, and Madrid, starting with the same April launch date.
Resuming Flights
- BOS to Dublin, Edinburgh, and Madrid: Resumes April 16, 2026.
- BOS to London Gatwick Airport (LGW): Starts on May 21, 2026.
- BOS to Amsterdam, Paris, and London Heathrow (LHR): Year-round service available.
From its John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) hub, JetBlue will also be resuming flights to Europe in 2026, including:
JFK European Flights
- JFK to Amsterdam: Starts March 28, 2026.
- JFK to Dublin and Edinburgh: Resumes April 29, 2026.
- Year-round service to Paris and London Heathrow.
Aircraft and Amenities
JetBlue will utilize its Airbus A321 aircraft for these new routes. The planes will feature JetBlue’s lie-flat Mint suites. Additionally, passengers booking the Mint cabin will gain access to new lounges being opened in New York and Boston in 2026.
JetBlue’s Strategic Focus
JetBlue’s decision to expand into Milan and Barcelona reflects the increasing popularity of these destinations among travelers. Milan is viewed as an important gateway for visitors to Lake Como and other regions in northern Italy. Meanwhile, Barcelona follows a recent expansion that included service to Madrid last year.
As JetBlue continues to grow its European flight offerings, it aims to enhance travel options for its customers while providing affordable fare structures. However, the airline’s president has indicated that new transatlantic routes may slow down in the coming years, as JetBlue anticipates receiving only two additional aircraft capable of flying to Europe before 2031.
