Zepbound Price Falls to $299/Month After Trump Negotiation

Eli Lilly has recently announced a significant price reduction for its weight-loss drug, Zepbound. This decision comes after the company reached an agreement with Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer of Ozempic, in collaboration with the Trump administration to make these medications more affordable for consumers.

Zepbound Price Reduction Details

The out-of-pocket monthly cost for the lowest single-dose vial of Zepbound is now set at $299. This represents a 14% decrease from its previous price of $349. Additionally, the 5-milligram dose has been reduced to $399, a 20% drop from $499.

Updated Pricing for Other Doses

  • 7.5 to 15 milligram doses are now priced at $449, down from $499.

These adjustments come as part of a broader effort to enhance accessibility to weight-loss treatments. Novo Nordisk has also reduced prices for its popular medications. Last month, it announced that the monthly costs for Ozempic and Wegovy would be lowered to $349 from $499. Furthermore, the initial two months for the two lowest doses of either drug will be available for just $199 per month.

Original Costs for Comparison

Before these reductions, the monthly cost of Zepbound reached as high as $1,086 without any discounts. In comparison, the list price for Ozempic stands at just over $997 per month.

These changes are expected to impact the market significantly by making these essential weight-loss drugs more attainable for a larger segment of the population.
