Bally’s Corporation has received a prestigious license to establish a casino in New York City. This decision marks a significant milestone for the company and the region’s gaming landscape.

Bally’s Casino License in New York City

The New York Gaming Facility Location Board awarded Bally’s a license to develop a commercial casino. The project will be located at the site of Trump’s former golf course at Ferry Point, near the Whitestone Bridge.

Details of the Award

This license is part of a larger approval that also includes two other companies:

  • Steve Cohen, the owner of the New York Mets, who plans to open a casino near his stadium.
  • Genting Group, which intends to invest $5.5 billion to upgrade its existing location in Queens into a full-scale casino.

Bally’s Project Overview

Bally’s proposed project, named Bally’s Bronx, involves a total capital investment of $2.3 billion. The casino is slated to open by mid-2030 and will feature:

  • 3,500 slot machines
  • 210 table games
  • 40 poker tables
  • A 507-room hotel, including suites
  • Two parking garages with 4,661 spaces
  • A 2,000-seat event center
  • A golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus with a clubhouse
  • Various amenities, including a nightclub, spa, over ten dining options, and four retail stores

Financial Obligations

As part of the agreement, Bally’s is required to pay the Trump Organization $115 million now that it has secured the gaming license. The Trump Organization had previously assigned its license for the Bronx golf course to Bally’s for a fee of $60 million in 2023.

Bally’s spokesperson, Lauren Westerfield, has not responded to inquiries regarding the specifics of the arrangement with the Trump Organization.

The unanimous decision by the Board emphasizes Bally’s commitment to enhancing the gaming experience and contributing to local economic growth through this ambitious project.
