Tesla has made a remarkable ascent in the realm of automotive reliability, achieving a spot in the Top 10 most reliable car manufacturers for 2026, according to Consumer Reports. This is the first time the company has entered this prestigious ranking, a testament to its ongoing improvements.
Tesla’s Ranking Progression
Consumer Reports showed a significant leap in Tesla’s ranking over the past two years. In 2022, Tesla was placed 27th out of 28 brands. The following year, it improved to 17th. Now, in 2026, Tesla has reached the 10th position.

Fisher remarked, “By continuing to refine and not make huge changes in their models, they’re able to make more reliable vehicles.”
Comparative Reliability Across Brands
While Tesla’s models have shown consistent improvements, the Cybertruck received a below-average score in the 2026 rankings. Fisher acknowledged that as Tesla enhances its vehicles over time, future models, including the Cybertruck, may reflect this trend.
Performance of Other Automotive Brands
Subaru claimed the top spot in the rankings, noted for its reliability and performance. Other brands that made notable advancements include Rivian, which climbed from 31st to 26th, while Chevrolet and Ford held positions of 24th and 18th, respectively.
