60-Year-Old Restaurant Chain Silently Shutters Locations Nationwide
An iconic fast food chain, known for its curly fries and popular slogan, is experiencing a significant reduction in its presence across the United States. Arby’s, established over 60 years ago, has closed numerous establishments in 2025, as reported by industry sources.
Arby’s Store Closures Nationwide
Despite its popularity, the chain has shut down dozens of its more than 3,600 locations throughout the country. This surprising trend comes after Arby’s accounted for one-third of the U.S. sandwich market in 2024, trailing only behind Subway and Panera Bread.
Recent Financial Performance
Inspire Brands, the parent company of Arby’s, also owns several other well-known restaurant chains, including Dunkin’, Baskin-Robbins, and Buffalo Wild Wings. According to restaurant industry reports, if all Inspire Brands were combined, they would rank as the third largest restaurant group in the U.S., following Starbucks and McDonald’s.
In 2024, Arby’s reported $29.5 billion in sales. However, the chain faced challenges, including a 6.3% decline in sales last year. Compounding these difficulties are increasing operational costs and reduced consumer spending.
Locations Shuttered in 2025
The following states have seen Arby’s closures this year:
- California: At least two locations closed, including one in Fresno and another in Victorville.
- Delaware: A restaurant in Talleyville has closed.
- Florida: Four stores in Jacksonville were shut down in early 2025.
- Maryland: One location in Laurel closed in March.
- New Jersey: An Arby’s in Audubon closed in January.
- South Carolina: A North Charleston store closed in July.
- Tennessee: Three locations in Cordova, Germantown, and Memphis were shut down.
- Washington: One store in Pullman closed in June.
As of now, Arby’s has a minimal presence in Massachusetts, with only two locations remaining in Auburn and Chicopee. The company has yet to provide a comment regarding these recent closures.
