Notably, whole genome sequencing has matched at least one sample with the outbreak strain.
Consumer Guidance
Consumers in possession of the recalled eggs are advised to:
- Dispose of the eggs safely
- Return them to the point of purchase for a full refund
Businesses should immediately halt the sale and service of these eggs. Moreover, all surfaces and items that may have come into contact with the eggs must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
Symptoms and Medical Advice
Symptoms of a Salmonella infection typically appear within six hours to six days after ingestion. Common symptoms include:
- Diarrhea
- Fever
- Stomach cramps
While most individuals recover within a week, severe cases can occur, particularly in vulnerable populations such as young children, elderly adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Anyone experiencing symptoms should seek medical attention immediately.
